How did you get involved in Manchester Rugby Club?

I started playing rugby when I was 11 but had to stop as I was the only girl in the section and was not allowed to play contact with the lads. When I was 15 I returned and joined Manchester Ladies. I played until I had my boys and then started coaching when they were old enough to play. I also worked in the kitchen and behind the bar for a very long time!

What makes you stay in rugby?
FAMILY & FUN. MRC is my family. I have made some of my best friends through the rugby club as have my immediate family. MRC is not just about being a rugby player, its about being involved, feeling part of something and knowing that you have a support network who can help with most things that cross your path at any age.

Biggest achievement/proudest moment in rugby:
Watching players develop from a young age. I have been fortunate to play and train alongside some amazing rugby players and have taken aspects of how they play and their attitudes to rugby that I hope to pass onto youngsters progressing through M&J. Also the touch game we organised over Christmas that saw 100ish children, parents and coaches play rugby, from U6 all the way up to senior team players.

Vision for the future of Manchester Rugby Club:

I want everyone to be able to play rugby at any age. More importantly I want it to be FUN for everyone, from playing under 6’s to progressing up to the senior teams, from walking rugby to touch rugby over summer. Everyone is welcome at MRC.

What do you do away from rugby?
I love going out watching live music, no particular genre I just love it. I also spend most weekends outside of the rugby season in Wales with friends.
