2020 Vision - Who's who at MRC 9 of 12

9. Seb Lingwood

Name: Seb Lingwood

Roll on the Committee:
Co-Club Captain

How did you get involved in MRC?
After university I wanted to find a local club and knew a few guys at Manchester. I have now finished my 5th season and hope I still have a few more in the tank!

What makes you stay in rugby?
I have always found rugby as a great release from the working week. Manchester is a club with high aspirations and has a superb set up so the weekly training is as enjoyable as game day! The lads aren’t too bad either.

Biggest achievement/proudest moment in rugby:
U16 School Boy Lancashire Cup – a 7-3 thriller of a final!
The two promotions, alongside respective league wins, with Manchester have also been pretty special.

Vision for the future of Manchester Rugby Club:
To cement Manchester Rugby Club as the BEST amateur club in the country by retaining our youth talent coming through M&J; and attracting new men’s and women’s players.

What do you do away from rugby?
Other than currently planning a wedding, my finance and I have just got a puppy so our time is well consumed. Away from that I play golf when I can with a club in one hand a beer in the other. Make sure to ask Doug Day for a round, you are guaranteed a win as he’s sure to bottle it on the back nine!

Quick fire answers:
Favourite food: Toad in the hole
Favourite film: Wolf of Wall Street (“Uuummm uuummm uuuummmuuuummmuuummmm)
Professional club supported: Sale Sharks
Who would play you in the film of your life? Andrew Garfield, there is a slight resemblance
Pet peeve: Team mate finishing the last of your shower gel
Advice for new players: Hover around Richard Gosling (Co-Club Captain) at the bar. You are sure to be in for a round of Guinness and vodka eggs!
Advice for those wanting to volunteer: As much as a rugby club, Manchester is a great social club where you will get to know everyone from the players, supporters, bar staff, locals and more! Get involved!
