We are delighted to announce that Manchester Rugby Club is one of the first clubs in the North of England to pilot RFU's 'Kids First' Rugby initiative,
Kids First Rugby (spearheaded by Ruckley) is an initiative by the RFU to retain more players in the game after they come out of Minis rugby and enter Junior rugby.
This is a whole coaching philosophy which we will initially roll out among our Minis section (u7s to u11s). While the principles relate primarily to the 250+ kids who regularly turn out for Manchester on a Sunday morning, the ethos is applicable to the whole club and we are looking forward to seeing those principles being adopted by all age groups (including the senior teams) eventually.
“The Kids First approach aims to enhance the rugby experience for young players, coaches and parents to help keep more players in the game.”
“The focus is on the child and giving them a bite-sized, manageable programme so players of all abilities can develop at their own pace. Kids First Rugby also manages the transition through the introduction of contact, which we believe is a vital factor in retaining young players into the future.”
It’s great news for our Club and we know that the kids, coaches and parents will love being involved in the programme. Many thanks to all the coaches who have organised and committed to the sessions.
