Last month, we were very lucky to welcome former Australia & Barbarian player Nick Cummins to conclude his fitness and health awareness tour.

Nicknamed ‘the Honey Badger’ after he drew inspiration from the fierce nature of the animal, Nick has played amongst the Australian Seven’s squad, had a 9 year career with Western Force in Super Rugby and represented both Australia and the Australian Barbarians.

With obesity rates soaring both here in Britain and in his home country, Nick and his team were conducting a whistle stop tour of the UK at venues in London, Cardiff and Birmingham to raise awareness of the importance of health, fitness, physical activity and nutrition.
The group were put through their paces with games of touch rugby, tabata circuits, passing drills and an ab finisher. Although the session was physically demanding and required some mental grit, Nick and his team were on hand with plenty of motivation, support, nutritional advice, (and lots of cheesy jokes!).

Back in the club house, Nick spoke openly of his father’s diagnosis with incurable prostate cancer and his brother and sister’s battles with cystic fibrosis and how their struggles have motivated him to inspire as many people as possible to take control of their wellbeing and appreciate what they are physically able to do, whether it’s playing rugby or changing their diet.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to Nick and his team, everyone who attended and those who helped to organise the event. For our players who didn't make it, well you missed a great opportunity and a brilliant evening.

Don’t forget to join the group ‘Banging Bods With Badge’ on facebook, where you will receive daily posts of recipes, motivation and workouts!
