Rugby Is For Girls!

2 months ago By

As part of our continued commitment to grass roots rugby and the local community, we recently hosted a touch rugby tournament for year 7/8 girls.

The successful day attended by over 35 girls from 4 teams, two from St James, with one each from Stockport School and Stockport Academy. All the teams played each other twice in ten minute games. The winners on the day were Stockport Academy who along with Stockport School will now progress to the next round of this RFU competition.

Special thanks to Julian Gilding, RFU Development Officer, and Bryan Fisher from Manchester Rugby Club, for organising the event. In addition to the teams represented on the day, Manchester is also developing links and players at Kingsway, Cheadle and Wilmslow High Schools.

Manchester has Girls teams at all the RFU age bands (U13s, U15s & U18s), along with a well established Ladies team who play in the RFU Championship league.

Anybody interested in playing for the club can find the necessary contacts on our website HERE.
