Our Women & Girls Section took over the club on Sunday with another successful Girls ‘Inner Warrior’ event, while our Ladies took on Southport.

Last Friday, we welcomed 40 pupils from 3 local schools for an afternoon session hosted by local RFU development officer Jules Gilding to promote Girls Rugby in the community and attract new players to the game. Pupils from Harrytown, Stockport Academy and St James’s RC took part in the event, which introduced the participants to the basic skills, building to full contact and a number of games at the end of the session. Many were trying rugby for the first time but by the end all were fully involved and enthusiastically looking to score tries in the three games each team played. An enjoyable day for all, so much so several came back to take part in a follow up event at the club held on the weekend.

Our Women & Girls Section took over the club on Sunday with another successful Girls ‘Inner Warrior’ event, with over 30 participants. The event aims to introduce new players to the game, whilst developing the skills of others. We also welcomed players from Port Sunlight, Sale and Broughton Park. Another great afternoon, which will hopefully produce more converts to the game. The event finished with a 10- a-side U15 game between Manchester v Port Sunlight.

Meanwhile on the stadium pitch our Ladies were outstanding in running in 10 tries against Southport in a 62-22 win, consolidating their fifth place in the league and now targeting a top four finish. Please support them in their next home game on Sunday 8th April against Darlington.
