Dear Member,
It is with great sadness that we advise you of the passing this morning of Tom Mostyn who had been poorly for some time.
Tom, a vice-president of the club, joined in the early 1970s and was a very active member sitting on the Executive committee over many years. He loved playing rugby and was heavily involved in the Hawks team [Vets] as a strong, unyielding prop.
He will be remembered by many of the older members for his bone-crushing handshake which could leave you wincing for some minutes after!!
In the bar Tom was a larger than life character and fellow drinkers would be made aware of his presence before they saw him because of his infectious laugh which had the effect of making you laugh in turn.
Tom was Chair of Grounds and used his mechanics knowledge to repair the grounds’ equipment and performed many jobs around the club in a House capacity.
He was a true Club man in every sense of the word who will be greatly missed.
Our condolences are extended to his wife, Jean, and all his family.
We will circulate funeral arrangements when they are available.
Kind Regards,
MRC Committee
