A strange game ended with the pack being shuffled at the bottom of North One West as Manchester failed to close out a game seemingly won at half time.
Manchester picked up where they had left off a fortnight ago when taking the impressive bonus point away win at Stockport. By the end of the game however, early promise had turned to frustration.

A much changed team travelled to an in-form Blackburn who continued their good run, putting an end to Manchester’s winning sequence.
Another Saturday, another local derby and again the weather conditions meant the going was heavy.
This was the third meeting of the season between both teams as thay had already faced each other in both the League and in Cup Competition.
Manchester had the better of the opening exchanges with attacking enterprise being let down by poor handling at crucial points, on a couple of occasions with the line in sight.

On a bitterly cold and wet afternoon, Manchester put in a gritty performance to take an important win after a disappointing start to 2018.
With both sides needing to improve their league position, this was an important game. Two good wins at home against Rochdale, one in the Cup, made for a confident trip.
Manchester endured a torrid time at the away fixture and with Vale now firmly established at the top of the league, there was some uneasiness from the hosts’ supporters.

Another week, another season (winter this time!), but the same opposition on consecutive Saturdays provided another stern test for Manchester who got that little bit closer this time.
The first leg of a cup and league double fixture over two weekends saw Burnage take the honours on the knockout competition.
On an awful day for rugby, Manchester defied the elements with their enterprising play, fully deserving the win over a fancied Northwich side.
The previous week’s impressive win made this flat performance at Warrington even more disappointing, the last quarter in particular very much out of character.

After the excitement and disappointment of the Stockport derby, followed by the disappointment at Vale of Lune, Manchester’s response was going to be important for the season ahead.
The consolation from the scoreline is that Manchester are unlikely to play a better side this campaign, something opponents said about Manchester last season on their way to the league title!
Manchester’s largest crowd for a good while, despite the poor weather, saw an exciting derby game with a disappointing twist at the end for the home fans.
It will be the season’s longest trip, but in the late summer sunshine, an early Doug Day penalty (0-3), which was added to within ten minutes (0-6) got the season on the road.
