Matty H's strong running and devastating tackling put Wilmslow on the back foot. George C controlled the game from outside half and finished a sweeping move putting Manchester ahead after a couple of minutes.
Wilmslow fought back but were no match for Manchester's superior organisation and relentless tackling. Lewis P, Charlie S and James G all linked well to put George away who then fed the supporting Lewis P for a fine try. Matty H then made it 3 tries to nil with a bullocking run through an overworked defence. Wilmslow didn't give up and to their credit sneaked a late try following a quick tapped penalty catching the Manchester defence asleep (for once) to make the score MANCHESTER 15 WILMSLOW 5 after the first period.
Manchester unleashed more of their newer players in the second period
JJ2 (don't forget your gum-shield next week Martin? ) made a couple of strong runs the last of which ended with him being bundled into touch by 3 Wilmslow players on their own try line. Joe B came into the game more and his evasive running put Olly W away who swerved round the defence and scored a great try in the corner. Not to be outdone Joe B soon had his name on the score sheet following a neat break by James G supported by Alex Mc. MANCHESTER 15 WILMSLOW 0
The final period saw a strengthened home team take almost complete control against a tired but defiant Wilmslow team who never gave up.
JJ (Jones) set up Joe B for his second. Harry T scorched unstoppable down the touch line for a fine try and Harry L scored a further 2 tries with his direct dynamic aggressive running. MANCHESTER 20 WILMSLOW 0 A great performance all round with the developing players benefiting from increased game time The scrums remained the main area for further work. As we play stronger teams its imperative that we win our own ball
