First time to Chester

Manchester made their first ever trip to a very windy Chester. Chester had a large squad and could field 2 teams. Manchester had a dozen players so we decided to play one team with some subs.

Manchester started very quickly, closed space and tackled very well. Closing space has been a big priority recently and the boys were up fast and pressured the opposition. In the first game Manchester opened up the Chester defence from 2 scrums with great combinations between the fly half and centres. Multiple runners causing confusion and hitting the ball at pace. Harry and Ewan both scored tries from Ben H passes. The first game Manchester won convincingly 4-1 and played excellent rugby.

In the second game Chester brought on a team of fresh legs and Manchester began to tire. Intensity levels dropped a little and Chester had one player who was fast, strong and very difficult to tackle. A couple of Manchester players picked up injuries and that left the last few men standing to play the final 10 mins. In the final 10 Manchester picked up the desire and played the way they can with Paddy scoring. Jayden tackled amazingly well and nothing got past him. We lost the second game 4-1 and mainly due to tired legs as most of our boys had played the full 40mins. Another week where for parts of the game Manchester were well on top and in control. As a team we need to build to the great sets of 10mins in longer periods of concentration and intensity. The boys moved another step forward this week.
