In the first match of the season Manchester knew that a tough test was on the cards at Aigburth road, as we came face-to-face with our opponents from the 2016/17 Waterfall festival final. Manchester's resolve was examined because of their depleted numbers - 6 regulars were unavailable.
The game was well fought - a stern physical test was provided by a well organised Liverpool team .
Manchester managed to cross the line for the first score, but a strong Liverpool side drew level. Further tries by the reds were countered by the blues. Importantly, our U13s kept their heads and never fell behind, continuing to drive through the opposition's defence.
Manchester gained possession through some excellent ruck play, winning turn-over ball and converting it into some crucial scores, capitalising through very strong wing play, especially in the 2nd half.
A super team performance saw Manchester's warriors run-out 40-15 victors. Last season's players succeeded thanks to a tremendous team effort which included superb contributions from several new faces and terrific support from our under 12s, who all stepped-up in a true challenge.
A great day, be proud, maintain the momentum & prepare for next week.
