Manchester go down but not without a struggle

It’s always fascinating to watch these two sides play and it’s a credit to both sets of coaches in the manner in which they do. Hard fast expensive rugby with no foul play, end to end with either side showing no let up in the pace, I’m not sure that ref Steve blew up for a drinks break 15 minutes in to give himself a breather or we’ll just agree that the boys needed the thirst quencher!

Manchester did as they always do and started slowly, sliding off tackles and falling to 0-14 deficit, however the quality of the boys which is never in doubt started to show as Macclesfield were put under pressure and Manchester completed a sweeping move to make the half-time score 5-14

Macclesfield then got some possession early in the 2nd half and restored the 2 try advantage then quickly added a fourth try, but some great cover work stopped Macclesfield running way with the game and Manchester then took control of the match scoring twice in either corner showing great continuity and off loads.

Macclesfield were allowed a final run in try, as tied legs just couldn’t get there in time!

Every ruck was contested between these sides, more off loads then England could mange in a decade and scarily (Halloween pun) some of these boys will play together at district level, be afraid be very afraid

Thanks to ref Steve and the Macclesfield coaches, Manchester boys – don’t give a side like this a head start which I’m sure we discussed before kick off!
