Stockport v Manchester

After the emotions of England's triumph over the All Blacks, and Wales sadly bowing out of the World Cup in Japan, it was back to the nitty gritty of the U7's and the small matter of a trip to local rivals Stockport for a derby.

We were massively impressed to take 20 players this short distance, especially in a half term week, and because of the numbers we were able to run a skills zone next to the pitches to work on aspects of the matches along side the games. The commitment of the players and parents is nothing short of fantastic!

As ever, the games were played with great spirits. We were particularly impressed with the speed and confidence our more experienced players showed running with the ball in hand. Not to mention the improvements being made each week by our new recruits, with closing down the space to grab tags, and becoming more confident with passing and catching.

Not only this, but thanks to the help of new coach Dan, with coach Mark we were able to run a separate U6 session at home. There was a great atmosphere around the club and the feedback is that lots of promising rugby from all the kids involved.

Don't forget, as soon as your child turns 6 he or she becomes eligible to play in matches against other teams! We will try to ensure we are across this but parents can just give us a nudge when their kid has a birthday as we don't want them missing out on progressing as soon as they are able to!
