Sunday was a very wet and cold morning, but another massive turnout from the U7's enabled us to field three teams with subs and also help AK out with a number of players to make up their numbers!

The most pleasing aspect of the whole mornings rugby was not least the hardy way all the kids from both sides ignored the weather to play some great flowing rugby, but the sportsmanship showed by both sides.

Due to a shortage of players to make up 3 teams initially, a number of Manchester players volunteered to make up Barbarians teams so that we could get as many kids playing as possible. The AK kids and coaches made them feel welcome and our players played for AK with as much energy as they do when wearing the red and white.

For that reason we were delighted to award the player of the week award to Max S who was a star when playing for both sides! The picture above captures the speed and intensity perfectly!

He also showed a great ability to learn through the games, working on grounding the ball properly to score tries and running forward.

This was also the first opportunity the U7s have had to play on the new pitch behind the Pacemakers stand. Given the conditions the pitch held up well and this is likely to become a more permanent home, certainly when welcoming other teams.
