The team travelled to Sandbach on a fine April day. The warmer weather, dry (if slightly sloping) pitch, lovely tea / butties and post match food was much appreciated by all.
The first game was a tough battle with both sides working hard and defending well. Manchester had most of the ground in the first half but missed some opportunities. Sandbach made the most of their chances and scored.
The second half saw Manchester show their character and stage a valiant comeback. Despite decisions going Sandbach’s way, Manchester battled on and scored a try to equalise.
Final score: Sandbach 1 – 1 Manchester
The second game ensured everyone played and gave newer team members valuable match time against a more experienced side. There were some good runs and passes. Despite the final score being 8-3 to Sandbach, Manchester kept their “never say die” spirit going and worked hard throughout. They fought on till the end with a try in the final minutes of the game.
Final score: Sandbach 8 – 3 Manchester
Thanks to Sandbach for their hospitality.
