Manchester under 9's turn on the style!!

I was a little unsure of who Trafford MV actually were so I googled them before hand to check them out. Didn’t find out much other than that they were involved with Sales Sharks, I was really looking to see what they might feed their kids, but no such info existed!
We set off armed with better directions than the previous week, so had time for a coffee and some apple/custard croissant. Brandon strangely, hates custard, but he ate his anyway.
Turning up at Trafford’s ground, I was struck by the quality of the pitches and what seemed to be an altogether ‘friendlier’ club. The sun was shining, although it wasn’t warm, and despite nursing a hangover I was far more positive than the last ‘wet Sunday’

First game up against Glossop was a real eye opener, especially the first half. The tackling seemed to be a notch above the opposition with Henry and Robbie popping up all over the pitch stopping them playing, but what really stood out was our attacking play, we always seemed to have the support when our runners went to ground, picking the ball up, and we were seeing 6/7 or even 8 phases of play before we either scored or lost the ball. Running in 4 tries we were outstanding, with Oliver Hill, Oliver Mears, Brandon and Max all getting on the scoresheet. All credit to Glossop though, they fought back well in the second half to make it a real contest with the match ending 4 to 3. The first win of the season!!

The second game up was against Trafford and again the performance was outstanding with us dominating the game eventually winning 4 to 1. Mixed feelings for me really as Brandon was on the wrong side (yes he had to stand in the corner for that when he got home!) but he did score Trafford’s only try with a darting run. For Manchester Andrew, Max and Oliver Mears all got on the scoresheet, and Brandon picked up the man of the match trophy. For me though the standout player was Henry, who’s tackling was outstanding, making regular, telling interventions both with and without the ball, but well done to all the team.

So, last week was a blip, and we return to winning ways, playing great rugby, can’t wait Sunday!!
