Manchester and Congleton brave the cold

We had 2 great games on Sunday which matched up with similar games earlier in the season so thanks to Congleton for the opposition.

The first game started with Ciaran, Matt B, Will C, Elliot, Ben, Tom, Max, Luke and Will M, and whereas it was a very tight game, we were very slow at driving over in the ruck and we seemed to forget about passing down the line. As a result much of the play was concentrated in the middle of the park, but we played in Congleton’s hands as they had 2 very big guys who made all of their tackles and carried the majority of their ball forward. 0-0 at half time was a fair reflection. We couldn’t get it moving in the second half and ultimately paid the price for, basically, standing off them by conceding 2 tries, both of which were won by their ‘big guys’ when we had the ball, and finished of by passing it down their line. Physically tough game – Max sporting a bloody nose, let’s hope for better in the next game.

Ciaran, Matt B, Will C, Charlie, Josh D, Matt G, Fin, Max and Daniel start us off in the second game. Maybe it’s the fear of another ear bashing from Mark (surely not!!), but it’s a different tempo to this game – Manchester are first to the ball, stepping over, passing down the line – bang, bang, bang we are 3 up ! Ciaran has 2 and Fin has 1. Elliot, Tom and Will M come on at the start of the 2nd half - more great forward play and Will M has a try. Manchester dominate play and never look in danger of conceding a score End of game 4-0 to Manchester. Special mention for Josh D – great tackling Josh.
