Manchester vs Stockport – Sun 6th March

The local derby! Near pitch perfect conditions! Hurrah!

The decision was to play 4 quarters. This meant that again all boys got valuable game time.

The first quarter allowed the boys to get going. There was some isolation of players who were fighting for the ball as the team seemed to need to get the adrenalin flowing! However, pressure from Manchester paid off with an early try. Stockport kept the pressure on and also got a try. Manchester came back hard and won this quarter

Manchester – 2 1 – Stockport

There was a change of players for the 2nd quarter. Teamwork was good in this game and Manchester dominated the match. Stockport didn’t manage to get the ball down past the final third of the pitch with Manchester’s great defensive work.

Manchester – 4 0- Stockport

The 3rd quarter was also dominated by Manchester but Stockport kept fighting throughout. Teamwork was improving and Manchester continued to dominate despite Stockport working hard to defend.

Manchetser – 1 0- Stockport

The final quarter. Both teams were still fighting hard but Manchester still kept Stockport pinned in their half. Some great runs paid off with the scoring of 2 tires for Manchester and Stockport also kept the pressure on and did not give up. This paid off with a try.

Manchester – 2 1- Stockport

Overall, a great local derby. Stockport did not give up and were worthy adversaries. All the boys had a great morning! Even some of the parents had their sunglasses on !! Has Spring sprung?
