Stockport Rugby Festival, 2016

Match Report..
2 October '16 - A super, sunny Sunday afternoon at a well-organised, U12s Stockport mini rugby festival.

5 group games kicked-off at 10:15 with a strong opener -Manchester were 3-0 victors over Sandbach.
The 2nd match, against Chester, was very tight. Solid defence from both teams resulted in a 1-1 draw. Manchester's early lead was pegged back in the final minutes, by a well drilled Chester team.
In game 3 Manchester reversed a score by Stockport greens in the first 5 minutes, as they sliced through the Stockport defence twice in the second half with some terrific attacking plays.
At 12:30 game 4 saw Lymm apply the early pressure. Manchester levelled thanks to a flowing counter. A well earned try, following dogged determination through the centre, saw Manchester squeeze through for a deserved win.
Manchester secured top spot in their group with a well managed 4- 0 win against Winnington park in game 5
Chester & Manchester progressed to the cup semi- final with 4 wins & 1 draw a piece to face Wilmslow & Stockport (red) respectively, who achieved a similar 4 win & a draw record
The semis saw Stockport red start very brightly & score twice in the opening minutes. A Stockport interception, try as Manchester were beginning to get into the game, followed by a 4th late on sent Manchester home as losing cup semi-finalists.
Overall Manchester acquitted themselves very well in their first U12 tournament. A good work-out for their own festival next Sunday.
