Good weather again - the only sign of winter being the chilly wind on a sunny Sunday.
Heaton Mersey arrived with a good sized squad and players with plenty of potential. They left recognising that the Manchester team has been developing well in many areas.
The pack's coaching was evident: stronger tackling, improved support play and greater intensity at the ruck were all apparent.
The forwards provided the platform for the backs to flourish, with fine handling, good movement and determined, direct running.
A super team performance with 17 scores from 7 different players and only 3 tries conceded. The quarter scores being 6-1, 3-1, 1-1. 7-0.
Manchester coaches should be on alert - Eddie Jones is on the look-out for anyone with the secrets for strong opening quarter.
The volunteer referee continues to hone his skills, dealing well with all 24 (or 25) U12s on the pitch and fielding a surfeit of advice from the touch line. The referee needs support from all of us, parents and coaches, to help the youngsters develop & enjoy the game.
