Manchester U12s victorious at Grasshoppers festival

Sunday 23 April – a sunny afternoon followed morning clouds as Manchester U 12s shone in Preston. As the weather improved so did the performances.

Manchester progressed from the first phase as winners of the 4 team group - beating Liverpool Collegiate and West Park, and drawing with West of Scotland.

The 2nd stage of the festival moved from grass to the home team’s 4G pitch. The clouds disappeared, the breeze subsided and the U12s determined, well-drilled and progressive rugby improved. The boys managed wins against 2 other group winners, PGH whites and greens, to set-up the 3rd and final game against the other unbeaten team in the 2nd phase -Rossendale..

In a tight match Manchester’s patience, perseverance and tenacity was rewarded with a 1-0 win.
During the tournament Manchester’s possession; built on teamwork, super handling, and strong tacking, created the opportunities for some devastating breaks and host of tries. Well done boys, stamina & fitness was tested in 6 matches over almost 4 hours. Stats: P6, W5 D1 L0 F34 A2.
