Excellent attack and defence produced a promising start to the tournament.
MOTM: Leanne was awesome, grabbing both tries.

Pool Game 2

A demolition job on the hosts as Manchester's challenge gathered pace.
MOTM: A brilliant performance by Casey who was brave and skilful througout.

Just how many tries can you have disallowed in a 10's game? I reckon there were four although the ref did have a point with one or two!
MOTM: Emily S had a great attacking game and deserved to be awarded a couple of those "tries".

Semi Final
Liverpool St Helens (5) 10 Manchester/Sandbach (10) 24
We thought this would be the tricky one. It was but the girls were deserved winners after taking control in the second half.
MOTM: Ellie's kick to touch when she knew that time was up was great - she produced a streetwise performance in every match and this just proved it.

Final
Manchester/Sandbach (7) 7 Burton/Lichfield (5) 19
Leading 7-5 at half time, we thought at that point that we might just win this...
Birfield had the huge advantage of playing 7-a-side (in a 10s tournament?!) and Manchester sportingly dropped their numbers to match. The wide open spaces were tough to defend at the end of a long day and Birfield had some excellent runners who were unfortunately given the opportunity to run the ball back at Manchester too many times.
MOTM: A joint award to Casey, Emily S, Leanne, Rachael, Bethan, Jess, Emma, Ellie, Meg, Rebecca and Charlee!

A great result from the day's efforts though. Manchester/Sandbach finished as the best Northern team in the North of England 10s, beaten only by the 7s specialists from the Midlands.
