Tyldesley & Waterloo arrived with a full squad and were sympathetic to our predicament on the day. It was agreed to play a 7s league game in which the girls showed great character despite the odds stacked against them.
Special mention should be given to Izzy Worsley who bravely played despite nursing a knee injury. For this game, Casey Thompson had finally yielded quite rightly to doctor’s (and parent’s!) advice and sat out the game with her broken thumb, but these players’ commitment to the cause in the last couple of weeks when we have had such low numbers has been brilliant. Get fit soon girls!
The girls’ performances have been far from disappointing but playing against teams with a larger squad is a huge disadvantage. Recruitment during the season and better availability on match days is urgently needed to support our core of very good and keen players.
