Apart from a long injury break for Thea Brau, this was a very promising start to the tournament with the girls dominating from the kick off.
In truth, Sandbach were always in control of this game and were good value for their 14-5 lead at half time. Mollie Latham had opened the scoring for the forwards with Hannah Johnson replying for the backs! Nieve Jones successfully converted both.
After the break and Thea's departure, Harriet Parsons went over for (possibly??) her first try for Sandbach/Manchester and the convincing scoreline was reached with a try from Nieve and a second for Hannah.
After treatment at A&E, Thea was welcomed back by her team mates, fortunately just a little worse for wear. Whether she will be fit to play what was expected to be her last U18 game against league winners Tyldsley/Waterloo/LSH on Wednesday evening remains to be seen.
