With the Rugby World Cup 2015 now less than 18 months away, the momentum for the biggest Rugby event in history is starting to build.
A key part of the plans is the assembly of a 6,000 strong army of volunteers to help stage the tournament. Of these, 4,500 will be individuals put forward by the clubs that make up the RFU, which of course includes Manchester Rugby Club. We have been asked to nominate two people, and one more for a reserve list. We are now looking for club members (over 18 on 1st April 2015) who would like to put themselves forward.
Volunteers are being allocated to specific matches based on geography. For MRC, the match we have been asked to cover is England's final group fixture on Saturday 10th October 2015 at the Etihad Stadium.
So, if you are interested in joining 'The Pack' as a RWC volunteer, please either speak to or send an email to our RWC 'champion' Vicki Calder at vlcalder@live.co.uk by Friday 4th April. You are welcome to make any comments in support of your application so that the club's rugby committee can consider these before we choose our representatives. The decision will be made the following week so that the successful individuals can be registered with RWC ahead of the deadline of 17th April.
The timetable for those chosen to be part of 'The Pack' is:
