Pre-Season Training for the Men's Senior Section at Manchester Rugby Club began on Tuesday 3rd July with the players participating in the first of Director of Rugby Getty Schinkel's "Wilderness Training" at Alderly Edge. The players "enjoyed" various team building and fitness activities up on the "edge" culminating in some vertical hill climbs (pictured below).
Club Captain Richard McCartney captured the feeling by saying "It was a great session to start our Pre-Season Programme which all of the boys really enjoyed. It's nice to get out and away from the club during these sessions where we look to improve our basic fitness and get to know each other a little better - much more fun ran than running up and down the field all evening. Hard work though!"
The programme continues this evening, Thursday 5th July, at Grove Park where the emphasis will be on 'skills & drills' and will run every Tuesday and Thursday until the season begins on 1st September.
There is an internal "Reds v Blues" practice match on Saturday 11th August followed by Friendlies away against Eccles on Saturday 18tn August (1430 K.O.) and home against Warrington on Saturday 25th August (1200 K.O.).
