We were shocked and deeply saddened last night to see the tragic news from GMP about Charlie who was just 26 years old. His loss is felt deeply across our club. We can’t begin to imagine how Charlie’s family are feeling and our love & deepest condolences go out to them.

Charlie started playing for the club in 2018 and last played for us in the 2022/23 season. A fantastic player and even better person, Charlie made a massive impact in our 1st and 2nd XV promotions in the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons scoring lots of tries. Whilst playing less frequently over the last couple of years he remained a member of the club and a great friend to many of our players.

There are many of our existing players & members who want to pay their respects to and remember Charlie. To support this, we’ll be requesting a minutes silence ahead of our games this Saturday against Stockport and Marple, the flag over the club will fly at half-mast for the rest of the week, then post-match Saturday we’ll raise a glass to Charlie & share our positive memories of him together as a group.”
