Despite the surreal feeling that walking round the club is like being on a film set – titles for films vary from wild west ones to other more racy suggestions - the weather was fab with bright sunshine. This helped to highlight whether the fellas taking part in “Movember” have bum fluff or are sprouting an overnight bush of a ‘tache! Luckily, us mums are in full control of our own facial hair.

The boys were bright and perky and had a run about prior to their tussle with Trafford!

3 Matches were played:
Game 1:
Manchester started with good pressure and scored their first try after a three pass move started by the scrum half from a Trafford scrum won by Manchester led to a good run and try by the scorer. They also defended well against Trafford with a strong tackle stopping a run from the visitors that looked like it was going to result in a try.
The pass was coming out and moving along the lines better and a 2nd try was not long in coming. It came from a dropped ball, picked up by the try scorer who cut his way across the pitch to score.

Trafford kept working hard and managed to prevent a 3rd try with a great tackle.

Manchester 2 0 Trafford

Game 2:
There were some lovely fluent passages of play emerging now (thanks for the help with vocab Jen) with the boys passing the ball along the line. Sealey senior was so relaxed he managed to take on duties as wardrobe monitor while the match was on, bringing a load of trousers and tops over to bags!!! And Miles C even managed to comment “Manchester are noteably trying to pass the ball wide.” This was a long sentence from a man who has been left in sole charge of three boys all weekend.
Tries came thick and fast in this game. The first from a ruck and maul close to the Trafford try line saw the ball eventually forced over the line. Try two was won by Manchester from a Trafford scrum and forced over the line, again from a few yards out. The third try was the result of a good run from a penalty kick. The last try began with the ball being ripped from an opponent by the Manchester scorer who raced down the touch line to score.

Manchester 4 – 0 Trafford

Game 3:
There is a shortage of descriptive information here as your roving reporter had roved over to watch other son. Apparently the first try was started by a sharp, crisp, pinpoint ball from the Manchester scrum half to set off a string of passes across the width of the pitch for an onrushing Manchester player to score. And try Two, I believe, was just as good. Another four pass move resulting in a great team try. However, back in time to see a great try where the boys went over the try line and continued passing out along the line, touching down before the pitch ran out – Hmm– do you think they have been told to get it out wide? Lovely to watch!

Manchester 3 0 Trafford

Well, the boys done good. Coaches and parents happy and a few pints partaken of in the bar – ‘taches dipping into the pints – eugh!
