Seven has always been a favourite number of mine. Barry Sheen used to wear it when he was dominating what was moto GP in the seventies. Eric Cantona, strutted his stuff at Old Trafford with that number on his back. It is the number of consecutive wins Lance Armstrong managed in the Tour de France after fighting off cancer.
But more importantly for us Mini Rugby fans, its the number of times our boys need to rip the tags of the opposition to win the ball back!! Watching Manchester 8's on Sunday was a little like watching a side wanting to dispense with tags and fully indulge in the side of the game so far denied. Seven tags they needed and they set about grabbing them from the Stockport players as if their lives depended on it. I can't remember ever seeing them take as many, seven, seven again, and seven again.
However all the games remained close, kept that way be some serious refereeing, and it took some great teamwork to emerge victorious. The lads seem to want to pass the ball about, and time and time again, they popped the ball along the line, great to watch!!
Will, Joe, Max, Oli, Teddy all got on the scoresheet, for the 1st group of seven, and for the other team Zak, Brandon, James, Andrew, Nathan and Robbie all got the ball down. Lets not forget though the hard work done by the rest of the team to set up the glory boys for their moments of fame!!
All in all a great mornings work Won 2 Drawn 1 lots 1, makes it another win for Manchester!!
